Interview with a woman pregnant with twins

Menopause

Menopause is sometimes called "the change of life." A woman will know she has reached menopause when she has not had a period for 12 months in a row (and there are no other causes, such as pregnancy or illness, for this change). This happens for most women after age 45.

What Women Want to Know

Highlights from the womenshealth.gov call center

We received an e-mail from a woman who wanted to know if there were any studies being done on the link between genetics and migraines. She said that while her migraines have subsided, her granddaughters all experience migraine pain. Migraines have affected her family for 6 generations, all on her mother's side.

We gave her links to publications about clinical trials as well as general information on migraines.

Addendum to Breastfeeding and Maternal and Infant Health Outcomes in Developed Countries

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) notified us that they changed the Evidence Based Review (EBR) on breastfeeding, titled Breastfeeding and Maternal and Infant Health Outcomes in Developed Countries. Ranjit K. Chandra, an author of the EBR, may be involved in fraudulent publications in regards to his research on breastfeeding and asthma risk. To address the issue, AHRQ has repeated the analysis by removing this study. They concluded that excluding his data from their analysis does not affect conclusions concerning breastfeeding and asthma risk made in the report.
