Men's Health

Women play an important role in the health care of men through education and awareness. Wives, girlfriends, mothers, and daughters often remind the men in their lives about important checkups and how to make healthy choices. Take the opportunity this Father's Day, June 21, to raise awareness about issues like heart disease and stroke prevention, healthy eating, and important screenings.

What Women Want to Know

Highlights from the womenshealth.gov call center

We received an e-mail from a woman whose gynecologist told her she had uterine fibroids. Her gynecologist recommended surgery; but, she wanted to know if there was an alternative treatment she could try, such as beneficial foods or vitamins.

We encouraged her to consult with her doctor for more information or get a second opinion to make sure that the procedure she chooses is the correct one for her. We gave her several online resources for fibroids and treatment options, including information on uterine artery embolization, a non-surgical treatment.
