Worked Hard to Go From Bottle to Breast Preference

After my first child, a daughter, was born, it took 5 days for my milk to come in. I tried nursing in the hospital, but there wasn't even much colostrum. When we got home, there was a case of ready-mixed formula waiting, and she was so fussy and hungry that I broke down and gave her a bottle. 2 days later, on post partum day 4, I started to run a 104 fever, and ended up needing antibiotics she couldn't have, so when my milk came in, I had to pump and dump it. When I finally finished the antibiotics, she was so used to the bottle she didn't want to nurse. It took a lot of frustration and persistence, but by the time she was 2 months old, she preferred me to the bottle to the point where she wouldn't TAKE a bottle from me! When I went back on birth control, a progesterone-only pill at 3 months, my supply went down, so over a 3-day weekend I spent as much time as possible nursing... and ended up increasing my supply so much I had engorgement problems! It was a fight, but it was all worth it.
